National Professional Development Framework for those who teach in Irish Higher Education
The National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education have developed and piloted a framework for Professional Development for all staff who teach in Irish Higher Education. The framework is flexible and provides guidance on the types of activities, that underpinned by reflection can usefully contribute to CPD in Higher Education. The framework recognises that not all CPD is structured or accredited, and many types of activities can help develop us professionally. It also recognises that simply taking part in an activity is not enough – we must underpin our activities with deep reflection on how such can help us grow professionally. The framework is comprised of five domains, which cover the activities staff engage in through their teaching and the impact these activities can have on their students’ learning. The framework is underpinned by 5 values and reflective practice.
Below is a mapping between the activities Crannóg has offered its members and the framework domains these activities could contribute to.
